Kim Hicks is a graduate of Parsons School of design in NYC.  While attending Parsons, Kim earned many awards and during her junior year she was an intern at Donna Karan, working in Women’s Collection.  Her designs were also featured in WWD, New York Magazine and sold at Henri Bendels even before she graduated. She also won a Golden Thimble for her Evening gown made of handpainted organdy.

 

After graduating from Parsons, Kim’s first apprenticeship was at Arnold Scassi a NY Couturier known amongst the NY Social set and some of the worlds best dressed women.  This is where she developed her talent as a young Couturier. She had the opportunity to do the Bridal, Fur, Ready to wear and Couture .  She designed for women such as Elizabeth Taylor, Mrs. Anne Bass, Mrs. Steinberg, Mrs. Brooke Astor, Carol Petrie, Nina Griscom and many other women. The last position she held was with Badgley Mischka in their design studio. Where she was an assistant designer, she designed and worked closely with the patternmakers and sewers. After, Badgley Mischka Kim started her own line of Couture cocktail and evening gowns.

 

Kim Hicks started her Couture Company in 1997. Her predecessors such as Christian Dior, Balenciaga, YSL and Givenchy inspired her her ideal clients.  Her first gown was for the granddaughter of the founders of Bergdorf Goodman, Sara Goodman. Soon to follow were many requests for Bridal clients and the NY Social Set, including, the wedding of Renee Rockefeller. Kim Hicksstarted selling her gowns in Bergdorf Goodman in 1997. Kim has sold her gowns now in Bergdorf Goodman for 13 years. She presently has two Ateliers,  in NYC and in Paris ,France.

 

Kim is known for her old-world designs, hand stitching, embroidery, craftsmanship, fabrication and the dedication to emphasis the female form. Her clients include some of but not exclusive to the high profiled executives, New York and Global Jet set, and many business leaders of the World. Some of her clients are Anne Bass, Mrs. Vicente Fox of Mexico, Mrs. Ted Turner, Gina Sanders, Alexandra Lebenthal, Maria Bartiromo, Renee Rockefeller and Daisy Olarte de Kanovas . Also, many editors of magazines such as Vogues editors Meredith Melling Burke and Stephanie La Cava, Town and Country’s Editor Alexis Clark and In Style’s Megan Deem. Kim’s designs have been featured in many magazines and publications such as New York Times, New York Magazine, Vogue, Town and Country, WWD, and foreign press in Spain, Paris, and London and also in The Middle East.

 

Presently, Kim Hicks is sold in her two Ateliers by Private Appoitment.the way it is done for Haute Couture, very special services.
